Art & Animation

There's a lot that can be said about art and animation, but I'll be brief here for the sake of time.

Art is all about self-expression and presenting ideas or concepts though a visual medium for others to experience and interperet, right? It can be literally anything. Animation is basically an expanded form of art: utilizing the study of motion to create the illusion of movement in various artistic mediums. I say "illusion" because in all reality you're not ACTUALLY making anything move, you're simply lining up a bunch of frames together that convey the idea of something moving. Pretty neat, but it can get difficult and complicated VERY quickly. Thankfully there's books for this stuff.

Art and animation go hand-in-hand. Knowledge gained from learning art helps in the presentation of animation as a whole, and the understanding of animation fundamentals helps in understanding how to create things on the art side to better compliment animation. It's all a fun, vicious cycle, like an ouroboros with a pencil that's drawing itself.

If you have even the vaguest interest in trying to draw things yourself, there's tons of free resources out there waiting for you. Then, if you're feeling like diving a bit deeper, try making your drawings move via animation. There's links on the left of this page with some resources I know about (all free by the way), so go nuts.
